We've had a great rice harvest this year.
As usual, we planted our favourite "Kinumusume" variety. It has a full bodied flavour, very similar to Koshihikari but is much lighter, leaving you without that heavy stomach feeling that "Koshi" gives when you finish your seconds. We've been growing this variety for 7 years now

and I'm feeling quite comfortable with its growing habits, water requirements and so on. This year I think I got the weeding down to a fine art. Maybe that's why the harvest was so good, though the weather cooperated too.
As usual, we got our "Grade One Rice" certification from JA and our count of Hie and Karasu-Endo seeds is zero this year.
